For Pieter's entire oil-portrait-artist life's time did he breathe, until, in Haarlem, upon the 16th day of August, in the year, of our Lo'ward 1657, he left breathin.
Of the Dutch Republic, North Holland, was the most powerful, of the seven provinces. Haarlem was the head burg thereof.
Arnold Houbraken wrote of many artists, painters, of art oil paintings, in the Dutch Golden Age. Arnold was a Dutch painter and writer. He abode in Dordrecht.
Arnold Houbraken wrote, that Pieter Soutmann's trainer, in portrait oil painting, was Peter Paul Rubens, in Antwerp.
Antwerp was a town and province, in Flanders. In Saga, Antwerp was erst held by jotnar, and later settled by Franks. Jotnar are the forebears of the Jutes. Franks were a branch, of the Tribe of Benjamin.
It may be, that the Franks, and the Jotnar, were one, and the same folk. I haven't the key, to that mystery.
Reason, why I bother to tell, to you, about the history, of Antwerp, is to identify the source, of its loyalties. The topic, of loyalties, is germaine, to the topic of the freedom, of the Dutch Republic.
Only because, of the Dutch Republic, have we a Dutch Golden Age. And Pieter Soutman one, of the oil painting artists, of the Dutch Golden Age. And you are here, to learn of Pieter Soutman. And Pieter Soutman was trained, how to paint artist oil paintings, by a man, of Antwerp. That is why I tell, to you, the history, of Antwerp.
Franks ultimately took the side of our foes. Thus, Antwerp, the place, where Pieter learned to make oil painting portraits, is under suspicion of bein a bad place, by nature. However, the jury is still out.
